Recent Chapel Hill graduate, Dillon Kopec, has consistently impressed us with his ‘no excuses’ mentality to competition. Dillon is the strong, silent type and an extremely coachable athlete. This last year, Dillon saved his best for last, jumping at his PR all season, and improving it in the final meet. Dillon will vault on the Roanoke College track team next year. For the past 3 years, it has been our privilege to coach recent Cary Academy graduate, Carter Mathis. Extremely athletic, Carter had already met with success in wrestling, basketball, and soccer before attempting track and field as a high school freshman. Seventeen of our vaulters competed this past weekend at the NCHSAA and NCISAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. 70% of these athletes went from zero pole vaulting to the state meet in less than 12 months!
